Matt focuses his practice on estate planning, elder law, probate and trust administration, real estate, and business matters. As an attorney, Matt is passionate about helping people plan for and respond to life’s transitions: Death, Death of a Loved One, Incapacity, Buying and Selling a Home, Ownership of a Business.
For example, Matt assists clients with their estate planning by helping them plan for when they are no longer able to make decisions for themselves and deciding where assets should go upon death. This involves the “big picture” understanding of legal, financial, and health care goals, and creating a road map to achieve those goals throughout one’s lifetime and eventual death. Matt can help you understand several legal tools, such as Wills, Trusts and Powers of Attorney to meet your specific estate planning goals.
When a loved one dies, he can assist you through every step of the process, whether you are a personal representative, trustee or estate beneficiary. Matt can help ensure the efficient and orderly transitions and transfer of assets through trusts and estates. Matt also represents heirs and other beneficiaries to help resolve conflicts during probate and trust administration.
In addition, Matt represents small businesses on any number of matters including contract drafting, negotiation and review, entity formation (including organization of LLCs and corporations), stock and asset purchase agreements, sales, acquisitions and succession.
Matt provides legal representation and guidance to individuals in connection with the buying and selling of real estate. Including leases, title insurance, easements, LLC ownership, land contracts, and offers to purchase and sell. He is able to assist sellers and buyers with a variety of real estate transactions, including For Sale By Owner (FSBO).
Matt can also assist with Medicaid planning, special needs trusts and other legal services so that you can form a plan. This encompasses many practices areas of the law including preservation of assets, estate planning, long-term care planning, real estate, and health care law to focus on the needs of individuals who are facing diminished physical or mental capacity due to age or special needs.
Matt graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2010. He received his B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2007, where he graduated with Distinctive Scholastic Achievement.

Matt has served as a faculty member for the probate and estate planning section of the Lawyering Skills Program at the University of Wisconsin Law School. He has also a regular presenter and author at seminars presentations, including Estate Planning Basics, and The Probate Process from Start to Finish. He is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin (Real Property, Probate and Trust Section, Elder Law Section).
Matt is a participant of Leadership Greater Madison and board member for Madison4Kids, Inc. Matt is also member of Madison Area Connectors, an organization whose purpose is to build a close-knit community of business professionals through community service and personal relationships.
